The scene:
The businessman rushes out of the train. Shoving his way forward, he heads towards the crowded escalator. Stuck in the stairs, he tries to get his backpack on his shoulder but can’t quite reach one of the straps. Behind him, a stranger grabs it and puts it within reach. The businessman finally manages to get his backpack in place. He carries on, unaware of what went down.
The aftermath:
The businessman will never hear this story. The stranger will never be thanked. To the two of them, I remain forever unknown.
The lesson:
Of these acts of kindness, of only but a few can we really measure the impact. The scene took place over 10 years ago. You’re discovering it today. Opportunities for kindness present themselves daily. They are ours to take.
